I began this blog as a student at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. Over a five-year period, I got a couple of degrees there, in glass and in animation. I've had a lot of great opportunities through college: seeing glassblowing in Seattle and in Turkey, seeing hundreds of animations at the Ottawa International Animation Festivals, and meeting a couple of my animation idols there. I worked with Kaiju Big Battel and got to make tiny sets that would then be crushed by people in latex monster suits. And, like most art students, I triumphed over the uneasy feeling of seeing a nude model in streetwear buying fruit cups at the cafeteria.
Reflected in my work are the things that I love most, taken from my environment. Nature plays a major role, as it does with most artists I guess. I grew up in a rural part of Maine, and it was only after living in Boston for a while that I realized what a calming effect being in the woods has on me. Trees don't break into my window and steal my computer, for one. Actually, I take that back: a raccoon did once break into our basement window, but it was because it had rabies, not because he was fueling his cocaine addiction.
And, lastly, most importantly, though I am now a young woman, I will always laugh at fart jokes when I'm not supposed to.
